In a major win for General Motors and electric truck enthusiasts alike, the Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck has officially claimed the top spot on Edmunds’ list of longest-range electric vehicles, achieving a remarkable 539 miles on a single charge — the highest range ever recorded in the publication’s real-world testing.
Edmunds’ test of the Silverado EV Work Truck with the Max Range battery pack surpassed its official EPA-estimated range of 492 miles by a notable 47 miles. The drive, conducted under everyday conditions with 60% city and 40% highway driving at an average speed of 40 mph, started and ended at Edmunds’ headquarters in Santa Monica, California, with 7 miles of range to spare.
“The EV Work Truck blew past its estimate, officially setting a new Edmunds record,” the outlet reported this week. “539 miles on a single charge is the best figure we’ve seen to date, and it might be a while before another vehicle comes close to that number.”
A Streak of Strong Showings for GM EVs
This isn’t the first time a GM electric truck has outperformed expectations in Edmunds testing. The 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali achieved 507 miles (above its EPA estimate of 460 miles), while the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST hit 484 miles versus its 450-mile EPA range. Even the 2023 GMC Hummer EV, with a listed range of 329 miles, reached 390 miles in the same test.
Edmunds attributed the Silverado EV Work Truck’s class-leading result to its efficient design, which omits some of the premium weight-additive features like oversized wheels, leather upholstery, and large infotainment displays found in other trims.
More Than Just Miles
The Silverado EV Work Truck proves itself as more than a long-distance runner. Designed for durability and utility, it boasts a towing capacity of up to 12,500 pounds, with the Max Range version rated for 10,000 pounds of towing and 1,400 pounds of payload capacity. Its starting MSRP is $57,095, while the Max Range model begins at $77,795 (both prices include destination freight charges).
With these credentials, the Silverado EV Work Truck is rapidly becoming a go-to choice for commercial users and fleet operators seeking high-performance electric utility without compromising on range or reliability.
As EV adoption accelerates nationwide, Chevrolet’s electric truck lineup continues to challenge assumptions, proving that American-built electric pickups can deliver both record-breaking range and hardworking functionality.
