Bentley Motors has broken ground on its new Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) assembly line at its historic Pyms Lane site, marking a significant step in its Beyond100+ strategy to transition to an all-electric lineup by 2035. The investment comes as Bentley announces its sixth consecutive year of profitability, driven by record levels of personalization and a 10% increase in revenue per car over the past two years.

Strong Financial Performance Fuels Expansion
In 2024, Bentley reported a revenue of €2.648 billion and an operating profit of €373 million, reflecting a 14.1% return on sales—one of the highest in the automotive industry. The 70% adoption of bespoke Mulliner options contributed to a record-high revenue per car, balancing the substantial site investment required for the brand’s EV transformation. Bentley’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, highlighted the company’s resilience:

“Last year marked a milestone in our transformation as we prepare for an electric future. We are investing at levels never seen before at Bentley, not only revolutionizing our product cycle plan but also transforming an 85-year-old site for a new age of electrification.”

Transition to Hybrid and Electric Powertrains
2024 was a year of transition for Bentley’s flagship Continental GT, as the third generation made way for the fourth, introducing an ultra-performance V8 hybrid powertrain. The same powertrain was also integrated into the Flying Spur sedan, with both models initially launching in high-performance Speed and Mulliner variants. Lower-powered derivatives will follow in 2025, providing a broader range of options for customers.

Major Investment in UK Manufacturing
Demonstrating a long-term commitment to UK manufacturing, Bentley has begun transforming its oldest building, A1, into a state-of-the-art BEV assembly line. The facility will feature next-generation digital, flexible, and high-value manufacturing processes, setting new industry benchmarks. This move follows other major infrastructure investments, including:

The recently opened Excellence Centre for Quality & Launch.

A new Paint Shop, nearing completion, that will offer customers nearly 100 bespoke color options.

Optimism for 2025 Despite Global Challenges
Despite volatile global market conditions, Bentley remains optimistic for 2025, with a full year of availability for its new plug-in hybrid Continental GT and Flying Spur models expected to boost orders and sales. Dr. Walliser reaffirmed Bentley’s long-term vision:

“We have a well-balanced export strategy, record revenue per car, and a clear structure to maximize personalization. These factors, combined with the strength of our sales and order bank, give us great confidence as we continue through the year.”

As Bentley accelerates towards an all-electric future, its strategic investments and strong financial foundation ensure that the brand remains at the forefront of luxury, sustainability, and innovation.
