The BMW Group and Tata Technologies have officially launched their joint venture, BMW TechWorks India, marking a significant step in automotive software development and digital transformation. With offices in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai, the venture is set to attract top-tier Indian talent, starting with 100 employees and scaling to over 1,000 by the end of 2025.
BMW TechWorks India will play a pivotal role in engineering next-gen vehicles and delivering premium digital experiences, in alignment with BMW Group’s global strategy. This joint venture will leverage Tata Technologies’ expertise across the product value chain, from conceptualization to Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) development, to drive innovative projects for BMW’s premium mobility solutions.
Christoph Grote, Senior Vice President of Electronics and Software at BMW Group, emphasized the importance of the venture, stating, “India’s software talent will be a great asset for our Software-Defined Vehicles of the future.”
BMW TechWorks India will not only focus on automotive software but also digital innovations for BMW’s global production network and customer-facing services. The joint venture is also expected to drive advancements in AI applications and platforms, enhancing the efficiency of BMW’s core business processes worldwide.
Warren Harris, CEO of Tata Technologies, noted the venture’s potential, saying, “BMW TechWorks India underscores our commitment to driving innovation in both automotive software and business IT.”
As BMW TechWorks India accelerates its operations, it promises to provide young professionals with opportunities to work on breakthrough technologies, cementing India’s role as a global hub for automotive innovation.
