Tata Motors, India’s leading SUV manufacturer, proudly announces that the Tata Punch has achieved an extraordinary milestone, becoming the fastest SUV to cross 4 lakh sales in just 34 months. Launched in October 2021, the Tata Punch introduced the sub-compact SUV category to India with its striking design, high ground clearance, and commanding driving position. This bold SUV provides an exhilarating driving experience while adeptly navigating diverse Indian terrains.
The Tata Punch demonstrated its SUV capabilities by conquering the peak of Sandakphu, one of the most challenging terrains, proving its robustness and versatility. Notably, it became one of the first front-wheel-drive SUVs to achieve this feat, showcasing its ability to handle steep gradients and unpredictable conditions.
Before its launch, the Punch received a coveted GNCAP 5-star rating, achieving the highest adult occupant protection points of any vehicle at that time. In August 2022, the Punch set a new industry benchmark by becoming the first SUV to achieve the 1 lakh sales milestone in just 10 months. The journey to subsequent milestones accelerated, with the 2 lakh mark reached in the next 9 months and the 3 lakh milestone in just 7 months.
The launch of the Punch iCNG in 2023, featuring Tata Motors’ innovative twin-cylinder technology with uncompromised boot space, disrupted the market further. The introduction of the Punch.ev in January 2024 boosted sales, making the vehicle accessible to a broader customer base with multiple drivetrain options.
