Today, ElectroRide, India’s rapidly growing multi-brand electric vehicles retail chain, announced a strategic partnership with Battery Smart, the country’s largest battery swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers. This collaboration’s initial phase will involve the installation of 50 swap stations at ElectroRide locations throughout Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The aim of this partnership is to simplify and enhance electric mobility adoption by bolstering EV swapping infrastructure. Battery Smart’s objective is to provide EV users with access to swap stations within a 1 km radius, ensuring zero wait times. Over the next five years, ElectroRide plans to equip all of its 2,500 locations with battery swapping facilities.
Rahul Goenka, Director of ElectroRide, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting its significance in transforming India’s electric mobility landscape. “Deploying 2,500 battery swapping stations underscores our commitment to sustainable and accessible electric vehicle infrastructure. This initiative supports the government’s initiative towards greener transportation solutions, making electric vehicles more viable for the masses,” he stated.
Battery Smart, operational since June 2020, has rapidly expanded to 1,000 stations across 30 cities, facilitating over 35 million swaps. Through its Battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, EV users can replace depleted batteries within 2 minutes with fully charged ones.
Nishant Garg, Senior Director – Expansion at Battery Smart, emphasized the importance of expanding access to battery swapping stations amid the increasing adoption of electric vehicles nationwide. “Partnering with ElectroRide will strengthen India’s EV infrastructure, offering users convenience, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency,” he noted.
Future phases of the collaboration will focus on further expanding the network to cover additional regions, ensuring widespread accessibility. ElectroRide plans to integrate battery swapping technology into 30,000 vehicles as part of its last-mile mobility solutions.
As part of Goenka Green, ElectroRide provides a range of e-mobility products and solutions, including motorcycles and three-wheelers, with a strong presence in northern India. The company is also actively involved in developing and deploying e-vehicle charging infrastructure across the country, with plans for expansion into South India.
