The company announced today the receipt of an impressive $827 million incentive package from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity. This financial injection is set to fuel Rivian’s expansion efforts at its manufacturing plant nestled in Normal, IL.

The substantial funding from the incentive package will be allocated towards several pivotal initiatives. These include the expansion of the manufacturing facility, enhancements in public infrastructure, and the implementation of robust job training programs tailored to Rivian’s workforce. March saw Rivian’s declaration of the commencement of production for the R2 SUV at its Normal, IL manufacturing facility. The R2 promises to deliver an unparalleled blend of performance, capability, and utility, encapsulated within a five-seat configuration optimized for both grand adventures and daily commutes. Underpinning this groundbreaking vehicle is the robust platform that will also serve as the foundation for future Rivian models.
