Mahindra and Adani Total Energies Join Forces to Boost Electric Vehicle Adoption in India

In a significant move aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India, Mahindra & Mahindra, the country’s leading SUV manufacturer, has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Adani Total Energies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited. This partnership marks a pivotal step towards building a greener and more sustainable future, aligning with India’s ambitious climate action goals.

The MoU between Mahindra and ATEL outlines a roadmap for the establishment of an expansive EV charging infrastructure across the country. Additionally, the collaboration will involve the rollout of e-mobility solutions to facilitate seamless access to the charging network for customers, encompassing discovery, availability, navigation, and transactions. As a result, Mahindra’s XUV400 customers will now have access to over 1,100 chargers through the Bluesense+ App, significantly enhancing the convenience and accessibility of electric vehicle charging for Mahindra EV owners.

Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division at M&M Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Adani Total Energies, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the EV charging infrastructure. He highlighted the alliance’s commitment to providing customers with seamless access to the charging network and digital integration, ultimately delivering an unparalleled EV experience. Nakra also reiterated Mahindra’s dedication to expanding the partner network to enrich the EV ecosystem and drive electric vehicle adoption.

Suresh P Manglani, Executive Director & CEO of Adani Total Gas Ltd., underscored the collaboration as a crucial step in expanding Adani Total Gas Ltd’s presence in the EV space. He emphasized that the partnership with Mahindra for charging infrastructure would bolster customer confidence in embracing EV technology as part of the energy transition. Manglani emphasized the collective impact of such initiatives in reducing carbon emissions and helping India achieve its climate action goals.

Aligned with commitments made at COP 26, the partnership between Mahindra and ATEL underscores the collaborative efforts necessary to decarbonize transportation and transition towards an electric and sustainable future.
