Mercedes-Benz India has ambitious plans to introduce 12 cars in the country, with a focus on three electric models and a strategic emphasis on launching high-end variants. The year 2024 began with the launch of the facelifted version of the flagship luxury SUV GLS, priced between ₹1.32 crore and ₹1.37 crore (ex-showroom). The GLS holds a significant position as the most successful large luxury SUV in India, contributing to Mercedes-Benz’s leadership in the Indian luxury car market.

In 2023, Mercedes-Benz India introduced at least 10 models, including the GLE SUV, AMG C43, and electric cars. Looking ahead to 2024, the German luxury car manufacturer aims to surpass its previous efforts. During the GLS facelift launch, the company announced plans to unveil over 12 models in the country, with three of them being electric cars. Furthermore, there is a strategic shift towards focusing on top-tier models, aligning with the growing demand for high-end luxury cars in India.

While specific models for the 2024 launch were not disclosed, Mercedes-Benz emphasized that at least 50% of the new releases will be premium models. The company has committed an investment of at least ₹200 crore in India to enhance production capacity at its local plant, introducing new products and technologies. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz aims to expand its retail presence in 10 cities and plans to establish 20 additional workshops across India in 2024.

During the GLS facelift launch, the company highlighted its current status as having the largest luxury car portfolio in India, boasting 24 models. Mercedes-Benz also reported sales figures, exceeding 1.85 lakh cars in India, with more than 80,000 of these being connected cars.
