Zing Electric, India’s First Intercity Shared Electric Cabs, connects Delhi NCR with neighbouring cities and is offered by Zingbus, India’s Leading Surface Mobility Brand. In the next six months, Zingbus expects to deploy over 120 Electric cabs everyday linking more than 40 destinations. Currently operating on weekends to Agra and Jaipur.

Instead of renting the entire cab, like with a bus, passengers can reserve a single seat, making the travel much more economical. Today, zingbus transports over 15,000 passengers from Delhi NCR to Agra and Jaipur. By switching to electric, these passengers can immediately offset 100+ Tonnes of CO2 each month with the introduction of shared electric cabs. A collaborative e-mobility project between zingbus and National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV), an EoDB pilot effort, aims to provide high-speed public charging stations on Indian highways.

Prashant Kumar, CEO & Co-Founder of zingbus, commented on the new effort, saying: “Due to its high asset utilisation and subsequently high energy need, intercity travel presents the largest opportunity for sustainable mobility. If we could complete the billion passenger miles that Zingbus customers have travelled over the past four years using electric buses rather than the more common internal combustion engines (ICE), we would have neutralised over 65,000 tonnes of CO2, which is the same as planting “25 Lakh trees” in a year. The future of transport is sustainable, and zingbus is devoted to electrifying intercity travel.

The ongoing Zing Electric pilot programme is currently yielding encouraging results. Compared to the typical diesel/CNG cabs operated by zingbus on the same routes, electric cabs have shown to run at a much reduced cost. In the upcoming 12 months, zingbus also intends to roll out more than 80 electric buses across the nation.
