This year, Dassault Systèmes announced multiple initiatives to support the growth of the EV industry in the country, including a collaboration with Skill-Lync to support engineering students, providing them first-hand experience building electric vehicles (EV) from scratch along with masterclass videos visually presenting the EV building process. How do you see electric mobility technology evolving in the coming years and Dassault’s contribution to it?
The automotive landscape in India is evolving at a rapid pace. Our customers in India, from large OEMs to component suppliers and start-ups, have been scouting out solutions that enable quicker design, simulation and collaboration, while also improving productivity and enabling efficient design processes for electric vehicles and components. The competition has never been greater, and there is a unified to converge new EV concepts, support early feasibility, engineer the highest performance, and accelerate innovative vehicles to market, all while optimizing costs, quality and customer experience. Over the next decade, 100 percent of new vehicles are projected to be connected in some way, according to a report by McKinsey & Company. Navigation, infotainment, mobility, telematics and other digital services that interact with the driver will become more widespread along with connectivity between vehicles and the city infrastructure. The focus today is on India’s strengthening electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
The heavy industries ministry has made it mandatory for EV makers to carry out certain tests from April 2023 in order to avail incentives under several schemes, such as the production-linked incentive (PLI) for automobiles, PLI for auto components, the ACC PLI scheme and the FAME incentive scheme as well. EVs will have to undergo mandatory tests on battery packs, cells, temperature cycling, altitude simulation, shock exposure, and fire exposure.
