How has the year 2022 been for Dassault Systemes so far?

This year brought with it a slew of interesting trends and prospects for growth within the e-mobility sector. Customers are now seeking innovative and disruptive products within the sector, forcing manufacturers and developers to unearth more efficient and sustainable technologies within the e-mobility space. Our 3DEXPERIENCE platform is designed to enable manufacturers to find real-time solutions to these challenges using virtual twin and simulation technology, while also empowering users to execute complex procedures like creative design, shared intelligence, testing, system engineering, testing and manufacturing. Furthermore, it allows multi-domain collaborations to enable users to simulate clean energy mobility options.

This year, Dassault Systèmes announced multiple initiatives to support the growth of the EV industry in the country, including a collaboration with Skill-Lync to support engineering students, providing them first-hand experience building electric vehicles (EV) from scratch along with masterclass videos visually presenting the EV building process. In addition to this, Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Mahavidyapeetha (JSSMVP) has collaborated with Dassault Systèmes to establish the 3DEXPERIENCE Center of Innovation in India, which aims to strengthen the workforce in Electric Vehicles (EV) and the future of the mobility sector in India.

Dassault Systemes has developed solutions to address the market’s growing need for e-mobility. For example, one such initiative that has been developed this year is the Electro Mobility Accelerator, which enables mobility manufacturers and OEMs to imagine, develop and industrialize new electric mobility concepts within a comprehensive and collaborative environment. Our multipronged solutions cover end-to-end processes from systems engineering to mechanical engineering and enable manufacturers to imagine, sketch and 3D prototype new concepts while validating product performance with simulation to perform cross-disciplines optimization. This includes our Global Modular Architecture Solutions , Virtual Garage Solutions and the Lean Production Run solution , all of which facilitate developers to manage projects and deliveries while collaborating to design and validate global innovation quickly. The 3DEXPERIENCE provides technology support in the mobility sector to develop sustainable trends like electric vehicles and hydrogen mobility.

What are some technology trends we are seeing in the Mobility sector currently? How is Dassault adapting them?

The Automotive Industry is witnessing significant shifts, with traditional manufacturers launching innovation labs and newer players in the industry developing newer and more sustainable mobility technologies. The Transportation & Mobility covers an ecosystem of vehicles including cars, motorcycles, trucks and trains. Processes like conception, manufacturing, supplying, retailing and maintenance of the above-mentioned vehicles are shifting to digital workstations. Some of the most noticeable\notable trends include Alternate Fuels like hydrogen, new chemical formulations for batteries, share mobility as a service, Connected & Autonomous Vehicles and Mass Production to Mass Customization. At Dassault Systems, we have created solutions to address these changes. Our solutions facilitate advanced creative designs, shared intelligence, systems engineering and multi-domain collaboration that help the Transportation & Mobility industry to Improve visibility, efficiency, and control of manufacturing production and operations, within and across global and local plants.

What is the USP of Dassault Systemes’s offerings?

Dassault Systemes is a preferred partner for many leading OEMs and new players because we offer easy-to-adopt solutions configured with industry best practices straight out of the box based on 40 years of technological development EV OEMs can quickly deploy virtual twin technologies like 3D modeling, which can help them not only visualize the product they are building but also analyze what-if scenarios, help in modeling the future product and also validate their performance various driving conditions. By leveraging simulation capabilities, OEMs can build vehicles tested for safety and performance. For example, manufacturers can run simulations to determine the durability of their components; or analyze the thermal aspects of the battery for performance and safety.

How do you see electric mobility technology evolving in the coming years and Dassault’s contribution to it?

The automotive landscape in India is evolving at a rapid pace. Our customers in India, from large OEMs to component suppliers and start-ups, have been scouting out solutions that enable quicker design, simulation and collaboration, while also improving productivity and enabling efficient design processes for electric vehicles and components. The competition has never been greater, and there is a unified to converge new EV concepts, support early feasibility, engineer the highest performance, and accelerate innovative vehicles to market, all while optimizing costs, quality and customer experience. Over the next decade, 100 percent of new vehicles are projected to be connected in some way, according to a report by McKinsey & Company. Navigation, infotainment, mobility, telematics and other digital services that interact with the driver will become more widespread along with connectivity between vehicles and the city infrastructure. The focus today is on India’s strengthening electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

The heavy industries ministry has made it mandatory for EV makers to carry out certain tests from April 2023 in order to avail incentives under several schemes, such as the production-linked incentive (PLI) for automobiles, PLI for auto components, the ACC PLI scheme and the FAME incentive scheme as well. EVs will have to undergo mandatory tests on battery packs, cells, temperature cycling, altitude simulation, shock exposure, and fire exposure. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform can help manufacturers design their products based on these requirements before they begin the physical manufacturing of the vehicle. I see Dassault Systemes playing a very significant role in electric mobility technology and sustainability technology through our solutions. The ability to pre-plan and design every aspect of a product on a virtual platform using virtual twin solutions will rapidly augment the efficiency and turnover time of manufacturers.
