eBikeGo To Manufacture Torrot’s e-trike Velocipedo From Next Year

eBikeGo is not trailing behind other businesses in its transition to more sustainable power production alternatives. The firm, which is one of India’s major providers of electric two-wheelers, revealed on Thursday that it has acquired the production rights to Velocipedo.

eBikeGo announced that they have acquired the rights to manufacture Velocipedo. It is a unique smart electric bike that has a tadpole-like structure and is manufactured by the Spanish automotive company, Torrot. 

eBikeGo is more likely to begin this e-trike production at their Pune facility in Maharashtra from next year, with which they plan to enter the premium electric three-wheeler industry. 

According to the corporation, the purchase would fill a gap in the Indian mobility sector, notably in the electric vehicle market.

The trike is known to have one rear wheel and two front wheels, speaking off its unique design, that is set to transform urban transportation. It also includes a carbon fibre roof that functions as a roll cage.

This electric trike will be launched in three models – cargo, Trick Taxi and as a personal vehicle. The basic model, for personal use, can accommodate the utmost two passengers, provides seatbelts but requires the use of a helmet.

The basic trike can roam about with a maximum speed of 95 km/h and can cover a 200-kilometre distance between charges. It takes 1.5 hours to get fully charged on a 220V outlet. While Velocipedo’s cargo model is developed to serve commercially, with 70 kg cargo accommodation capacity and one driver’s seat.

Irfan Khan, Founder CEO of eBikeGo on Thursday said, “We are happy to have acquired one of the leading international automotive companies for the manufacturing of e-Trike Velocipedo in the Indian Market, pertaining to the requirement of Indian consumers and infrastructure. This acquisition will put the Indian EV industry on the global map,”.

The future of transportation is electric, and the post-COVID world gives an opportunity to drive worldwide adoption of e-mobility. With electric and digitally networked capabilities, three-wheelers will become the most favoured urban mobility paradigm for the workplace, empowering every consumer, Ifran said, adding more to his statement.

According to Khan, individuals in European countries are turning to EVs for personal usage as they scale down the use of fossil fuels in bus engines. He also stated that the business will produce 36,000 EVs per year, with the Velocipedo costing roughly 4-5 lakhs.
