Ford’s ambitious BlueOval City project in Stanton, Tenn., is rapidly taking shape, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards sustainable manufacturing and community engagement. As construction progresses at the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center assembly plant, Ford’s commitment to education, environmental protection, and local empowerment is evident.

Kel Kearns, plant manager of the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center, emphasized Ford’s dedication to ensuring that West Tennessee residents reap the benefits of BlueOval City’s growth. Through initiatives like the BlueOval Learning program, Ford aims to develop local talent for jobs at the assembly plant, providing comprehensive training to prepare employees for operating cutting-edge manufacturing equipment.

The assembly plant will utilize the latest Ford manufacturing equipment, including machine vision systems, automated material handling, and advanced mechanical joining technologies. Ford plans to commence hiring hourly employees in 2025 to support the production of next-gen electric trucks, scheduled for delivery starting in 2026.

Environmental stewardship lies at the core of Ford’s vision for BlueOval City. Blake Newbill, senior environmental engineer at the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center, highlighted Ford’s efforts to minimize the plant’s impact on the local environment. From investing in carbon-free electricity to implementing innovative technology for heat capture and water conservation, Ford is pioneering sustainable manufacturing practices.

The facility’s zero-waste-to-landfill approach and stringent air emission limits underscore Ford’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Through the Equitable Growth Advisory Council, Ford is collaborating with community leaders to develop a comprehensive Good Neighbor Plan, guided by resident feedback and investment priorities.

Ford Philanthropy’s contributions totaling $21 million in West Tennessee reflect the company’s commitment to supporting youth programs, essential services, and first responders. Alexandra Porto, CEO of Fayette Cares, lauded Ford’s support, emphasizing the impact on local families and community organizations.

Looking ahead, Ford Philanthropy plans to expand its local grants and announce further support for the Stanton community, underscoring Ford’s long-term commitment to driving positive change in West Tennessee.
