Volkswagen Group has announced an aggressive push into electric mobility and intelligent technologies, unveiling plans for four world premieres at its upcoming Group Media Night ahead of Auto China 2026 in Beijing.
Under its “In China, for China” strategy, the automaker is rolling out its largest-ever electric vehicle (EV) campaign tailored specifically for the Chinese market. The event, scheduled for April 21, will showcase ten models across key brands, highlighting advancements in electrification, digitalization, and AI-powered mobility solutions.
Among the major highlights are four global debuts. The JETTA brand will introduce its first all-electric show car aimed at the entry-level segment, expanding access to smart mobility. Meanwhile, the core Volkswagen brand will unveil a new model under its ID. UNYX lineup, developed in partnership with Chinese EV maker XPENG, alongside FAW-Volkswagen’s first all-electric vehicle in the ID. AURA series, built on a new China-specific electronic architecture.
In the premium segment, Audi and its China-exclusive sub-brand AUDI will present the exterior design of the AUDI E7X, marking the second production model under the new brand identity. Additional models, including electric and combustion variants, will also be on display.
Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume stated that China remains central to the company’s global strategy, emphasizing that progress in the Chinese market strengthens its competitiveness worldwide. Echoing this, Ralf Brandstätter highlighted that the company has developed a completely new product portfolio for China within just 36 months, with plans to launch a new vehicle on average every two weeks starting in 2026.
The company also revealed that it will introduce over 20 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China this year, including battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and range-extender models, alongside updated internal combustion engine offerings.
A key focus of the showcase will be next-generation technologies. Volkswagen is presenting advanced Level 2 driver-assistance systems developed by CARIZON, enabling features such as Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) for both urban and highway driving, as well as automated parking. The company is also working toward Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities.
Artificial intelligence is set to play a central role in Volkswagen’s future mobility vision, with the aim of creating more intuitive, user-centric driving experiences. The company emphasized that future vehicles will be defined not just by hardware, but by how effectively they understand and interact with users.
With its strong lineup of EVs and cutting-edge technologies, Volkswagen Group is positioning itself as a key player in China’s rapidly evolving mobility landscape, reinforcing its ambition to become a global technology leader in the automotive industry.
