SWITCH Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group, has flagged off the first batch of 10 EiV12mt intercity electric coaches for Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions, marking its debut deployment in the private intercity transport segment.
The flag-off ceremony was held in the presence of Madhuri Misal. The deployment also signals Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions’ entry into the intercity electric mobility space.
As part of a strategic collaboration with Vertelo, the electric buses will operate on the high-traffic Mumbai–Pune corridor. The total order comprises 25 buses, with the remaining units scheduled for delivery over the course of the year.
The development represents a significant milestone in advancing electric mobility in India’s intercity transport segment, as operators increasingly shift toward sustainable and efficient alternatives for long-distance travel.
The EiV12mt intercity coach is designed for long-haul operations, featuring 45 pushback seats, a driving range of over 300 km per charge, and fast-charging capability. The buses are equipped with advanced safety systems and SWITCH iON connected technology, enabling real-time monitoring and improved operational efficiency, while ensuring passenger comfort through a quieter ride experience.
Commenting on the deployment, Ganesh Mani stated that the initiative marks a key step in expanding electric mobility beyond urban markets into intercity routes, particularly on high-frequency corridors like Mumbai–Pune where performance and reliability are critical.
Prasanna Patwardhan highlighted that the partnership introduces a cleaner and more efficient travel option, while reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable operations and enhanced passenger experience.
SWITCH Mobility has already achieved over 185 million green kilometres globally and deployed more than 2,500 electric buses in India. The company continues to expand its footprint across city, intercity, and specialised mobility segments, including prior deployments for state transport undertakings such as the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
With this latest deployment, SWITCH Mobility aims to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility solutions across India’s evolving transportation landscape.
