JBM Auto Limited has emerged as India’s leading electric bus manufacturer, capturing a dominant 24% market share in the rapidly expanding electric mobility sector during FY26.
The achievement highlights JBM Auto’s growing influence in accelerating India’s transition toward sustainable public transportation. During the fiscal year, the company registered 1,282 electric buses across key states including Telangana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Assam, strengthening its presence in both public and private transport segments.
JBM Auto’s success is largely attributed to its indigenously developed e-mobility platform, which has enabled the company to cater to diverse applications ranging from city buses to luxury coaches and airport tarmac vehicles. This localized and self-reliant approach has positioned the company as a trusted partner for government agencies, corporate fleets, and transport operators nationwide.
In addition to its overall market leadership, the company continues to dominate niche segments. It holds over 79% market share in the electric tarmac bus category and approximately 50% in the intercity luxury coach segment, underscoring its strong foothold in specialized mobility solutions.
With an order book exceeding 10,000 electric buses, JBM Auto is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in India’s goal of achieving around 60% electric vehicle penetration in the bus segment by 2030.
Commenting on the milestone, Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto Ltd., described FY26 as a transformative year for the company. He emphasized that the firm’s leadership reflects its technological capabilities and operational strength, as well as its commitment to supporting India’s vision of a carbon-neutral future.
Arya further noted that JBM Auto’s integrated EV platform has proven its reliability across multiple use cases and terrains. The company plans to scale up its manufacturing and research capabilities to meet growing demand and ensure continued innovation in the sector.
JBM Auto operates the world’s largest dedicated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, with an annual production capacity of up to 20,000 units. Its comprehensive portfolio includes city buses, intercity coaches, school buses, staff transport vehicles, and specialized electric mobility solutions.
Looking ahead, the company has set an ambitious target for its electric buses to collectively clock over 3 billion electric kilometers globally in the coming years, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility and clean transportation.
