LG Energy Solution has become the first battery company to join SDVerse, marking a significant step in its transition from a battery manufacturer to a broader mobility technology provider focused on software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

Launched in 2024 by General Motors, Magna International, and Wipro, SDVerse is the automotive industry’s first B2B marketplace dedicated to automotive software. The platform allows companies to list, evaluate, and integrate software solutions, accelerating innovation in the rapidly evolving SDV ecosystem.

With its entry into SDVerse, LG Energy Solution is introducing five core battery software solutions designed to enhance EV performance, safety, and lifecycle management. These include Battery Platform Software, a system that analyzes battery status using advanced battery management system (BMS) technologies, and a Safety Diagnostic Calibration Tool that enables secure, in-house battery diagnostics and simulation.

The company is also offering Onboard FRISM, an AI-driven solution that estimates battery health without requiring cell test data, and Onboard BLiS, a predictive tool that simulates battery degradation and performance under varying conditions. Another key solution, Onboard DASH, focuses on optimizing battery lifespan by analyzing driving and charging patterns in real time.

Industry leaders have welcomed the move, noting that integrating battery intelligence into software platforms is critical for next-generation EV development. SDVerse CEO Prashant Gulati highlighted that LG Energy Solution’s expertise in battery management and diagnostics would accelerate innovation in electric mobility.

LG Energy Solution’s Chief Technology Officer, Je Young Kim, emphasized that batteries are central to the SDV transformation, adding that the company’s participation ensures its battery intelligence is embedded throughout the vehicle lifecycle.

The company’s expansion into software builds on over two decades of BMS development and a portfolio of more than 10,000 related patents. Its innovation credentials were further strengthened last year when it received a CES Innovation Award for its software-based battery life management solution.

By joining SDVerse, LG Energy Solution aims to strengthen its position as a comprehensive energy solutions provider while contributing to the advancement of software-defined electric vehicles globally.
