BMW Group has officially revealed the new BMW i3, marking the second model in its next-generation ‘Neue Klasse’ lineup and a significant leap in electric mobility technology. Positioned as the first all-electric iteration of the iconic BMW 3 Series, the new i3 blends the brand’s legacy of sporty performance with cutting-edge EV innovations.
The BMW i3 will debut as the i3 50 xDrive variant, featuring dual electric motors on the front and rear axles. It delivers a combined output of 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm of torque, offering a powerful and dynamic driving experience. The model integrates BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, along with an advanced digital interface powered by the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system.
A standout feature is the introduction of the “Heart of Joy,” a high-performance computing system that enhances driving dynamics with response speeds up to ten times faster than previous systems. Combined with three additional high-performance computers, it forms the core of BMW’s next-generation software-defined vehicle architecture.
In terms of design, the new i3 reflects a modern evolution of BMW’s signature styling. It features a sporty 2.5-box silhouette, long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a distinctive front fascia where the iconic kidney grille merges seamlessly with twin headlights to create a new light signature. The interior focuses on spaciousness and driver-centric design, tailored specifically for electric mobility.
The BMW i3 also sets benchmarks in range and charging capabilities. It offers a projected driving range of up to 900 km (WLTP), while its 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging up to 400 kW. This enables the vehicle to gain up to 400 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging under optimal conditions. Additionally, the car supports bidirectional charging features, including Vehicle-to-Load, Vehicle-to-Home, and Vehicle-to-Grid functions.
Production of the new i3 will take place at BMW Group’s Munich plant, which has undergone extensive modernization to support electric vehicle manufacturing. Production is set to begin in August 2026, with deliveries expected to commence in autumn the same year. By 2027, the facility will transition بالكامل to producing fully electric Neue Klasse models.
With the launch of the BMW i3, BMW aims to redefine the electric sedan segment by combining performance, efficiency, and digital innovation, reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable and electrified future.
