Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that its popular compact sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, has achieved a major milestone by crossing 3 million cumulative sales in India, reinforcing its position as the country’s highest-selling sedan and the best-selling car in calendar year 2025.
According to industry data cited by the company, the Dzire recorded over 214,488 units in sales during 2025, making it the most purchased passenger car in the Indian market for the year. Since its launch in 2008, the sedan has evolved across four generations, steadily building a strong customer base and becoming one of the most trusted models in the compact sedan segment.
Commenting on the achievement, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, thanked customers for their continued trust. He noted that the fourth-generation Dzire has helped revive interest in the sedan segment with its refined design and modern features. Nearly 50% of buyers are first-time car owners, indicating strong appeal among younger customers seeking comfort, style, and advanced technology.
The latest Dzire is powered by Maruti Suzuki’s new Z-Series engine, which focuses on both performance and fuel efficiency. The sedan delivers a fuel economy of 24.79 km/l in petrol manual and 33.73 km/kg in S-CNG mode, making it one of the most fuel-efficient sedans in the country.
In terms of features, the Dzire offers several class-leading technologies, including an electric sunroof, a 360-degree HD camera, and a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car also integrates Next-Gen Suzuki Connect, enabling smartwatch connectivity and voice commands through Amazon Alexa.
Safety remains a key focus for the model. The Dzire is equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. The vehicle has also received five-star safety ratings from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP, strengthening its reputation for occupant protection.
Over the years, the Dzire has introduced several premium features to its segment, starting with dual airbags, climate control, and ABS in earlier models. Subsequent generations added automated manual transmission (AGS), LED projector headlamps, advanced infotainment systems, and premium interior design.
With over three million customers nationwide, the Dzire continues to play a significant role in Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s portfolio and remains a key contributor to the company’s leadership in India’s passenger vehicle market.
