Continental AG has further strengthened its position in the electric mobility sector, announcing that all ten highest-volume electric vehicle manufacturers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region equipped their vehicles with tires from its tire division in 2025.
The development highlights the growing role of Continental Tires in the rapidly expanding global electric vehicle market. According to the company, 17 of the world’s top 20 electric vehicle manufacturers now rely on Continental’s tires for original equipment.
Major automakers placing their trust in Continental’s EV-focused tires include BYD, Volkswagen, Stellantis, BMW, NIO, Hyundai Motor Company and Renault.
The company also maintains a strong presence in other global regions. In the Americas, Continental supplies eight of the ten leading EV manufacturers, while in the Asia-Pacific region it works with seven of the top ten producers, reflecting the growing demand for EV-optimized tire technologies.
Dennis Bellmund, responsible for the global original equipment business at Continental Tires, said the company’s long-term strategy focused on EV-specific tire performance has contributed significantly to this success.
“The EMEA region confirms the success of our strategy. We began designing our passenger tires for low rolling resistance, quiet rolling noise and high load capacity very early on. These properties are especially important for electric vehicles,” Bellmund said.
Electric vehicles place different demands on tires compared with internal combustion engine vehicles. Because of heavy battery packs, EVs typically weigh more, while instant torque during acceleration increases load and tire wear. At the same time, the quieter operation of electric powertrains makes tire rolling noise more noticeable.
To address these challenges, Continental has continuously refined its tire technologies. One of the latest developments is the Continental EcoContact 7 tire, designed to improve energy efficiency through optimized aerodynamics.
