Volvo Buses has secured orders for 15 electric coaches in Norway, marking a significant commercial breakthrough for its long-range electric platform, the Volvo BZR Electric – CD.
The orders, placed by six Norwegian operators — Jenssen Mobility, Schaus Buss, Charterbuss.no AS, Stjørdal Meråker Trafikkskole, and Bussring — follow the recent launch of the new electric coach built on the Volvo BZR Electric chassis with bodywork from Carrus Delta. The development reflects rising demand for zero-emission solutions in long-distance, tour, and charter transport operations.
According to Volvo Buses, the new electric coaches will be deployed across diverse applications, including airport shuttle services, tourist and charter routes, and cruise ship passenger transfers.
Svenn-Åge Løkken, Market Director for Volvo Buses in Norway, said the strong response indicates that operators had been waiting for a long-range electric solution tailored to commercial needs. He added that the orders represent a transition from interest to concrete business commitments.
Jenssen Mobility CEO Frode Jenssen highlighted supply security and European manufacturing resilience as key decision factors, noting that the move supports a robust European value chain focused on safety, quality, and sustainability amid increasing geopolitical uncertainty.
Beyond vehicle supply, customers opted for a comprehensive package that includes service contracts and Volvo Buses’ Usable Energy Commitment. The lifecycle solution covers battery second-life handling and other services aimed at enhancing sustainability and optimizing total cost of ownership.
The Volvo BZR Electric coaches are equipped with up to 720 kWh of installed battery capacity, delivering a range of up to 700 kilometers under SORT 3 conditions. Deliveries of the first units are scheduled to begin in fall 2026.
Volvo Buses, part of the Volvo Group, operates in more than 70 countries and continues to expand its electric mobility portfolio as transport operators accelerate the transition to sustainable passenger transport solutions.
