Zelio E-Mobility, a fast-growing electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturer, has announced the commissioning of a new manufacturing facility in Cuttack, Odisha, marking a major milestone in its expansion across eastern India. The move comes amid strong demand and rapid customer adoption in Odisha and West Bengal, which have emerged as key growth markets for the company.
The new plant is expected to significantly reduce delivery timelines and logistics costs, as vehicles were previously shipped from the company’s Hisar facility in Haryana, taking up to a week to reach customers in eastern India. By setting up production closer to its core markets, Zelio aims to enhance supply efficiency and improve service responsiveness while strengthening its dealership network in the region.
With the commissioning of the Odisha facility, Zelio’s total installed production capacity has increased from 72,000 units per annum to 1,80,000 units per annum. The company’s Ladwa plant in Hisar has also seen its capacity rise to 1,20,000 units per annum through process optimisations and additional machinery, while the Cuttack facility adds another 60,000 units annually.
The new plant, developed with an investment of under ₹3 crore, is already operational and is expected to contribute to revenue immediately. Zelio projects that the Odisha unit could account for a significant share of overall revenues by FY26–FY27, supported by accelerating EV adoption in eastern and southern India. The facility will focus exclusively on electric two-wheeler production, with discussions underway on integrating advanced and eco-friendly manufacturing systems.
The company is also engaging with the Odisha government regarding potential incentives and support programs. Additionally, the plant is expected to generate employment for around 60 to 100 local people across production, operations, and related functions, contributing to regional economic development.
Commenting on the expansion, Kunal Arya, Managing Director of Zelio E-Mobility, said the Cuttack facility will help the company get closer to customers and dealers, enabling faster deliveries, lower logistics costs, and improved serviceability. He added that the expansion is a key step in strengthening India’s EV ecosystem and delivering long-term value to customers and partners.
The announcement follows Zelio’s strong financial performance in H1 FY26, with consolidated revenue of ₹134.78 crore and net profit of ₹11.87 crore. Earlier this year, the company raised ₹78.34 crore through an SME IPO, with ₹36 crore of unutilised proceeds earmarked for capacity expansion and new facilities. With over 337 dealerships across more than 20 states, Zelio continues to scale its footprint in India’s mass-market electric mobility segment.
