Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Exposure SARL to promote green transportation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), marking a significant step in the company’s global expansion strategy and Africa’s electric mobility push.

Under the agreement, VinFast and Exposure SARL will jointly develop a plan to supply the first batch of electric vehicles for taxi operations in Kinshasa. The initial deployment is expected to include VinFast’s commercial-oriented Limo Green and Herio Green models, which will serve as the foundation for an all-electric taxi ecosystem in the Congolese capital.

Exposure SARL has also expressed its intention to become a distributor of VinFast vehicles in the Congolese market. Both companies will collaborate on a business model tailored to local market conditions, laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation in the future.

The partnership builds on a broader strategic cooperation framework signed in 2025 between Vingroup and the City of Kinshasa, which aims to introduce VinFast’s electric buses, cars, and scooters to meet the city’s transportation needs. Earlier agreements also include plans for a large-scale riverside urban development project in Kinshasa, covering around 6,300 hectares and featuring residential, commercial, healthcare, and entertainment infrastructure.

The initiative aligns with the DRC’s long-term vision for sustainable urban development and low-emission growth. With rapid urbanization and rising demand for clean and efficient mobility, Kinshasa aims to develop an integrated green infrastructure and electric mobility ecosystem.

Commenting on the partnership, Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Sales at VinFast, said the collaboration reflects VinFast’s confidence in Africa’s green mobility potential and its commitment to delivering affordable electric vehicles tailored to regional markets.

Fely Samuna Lukwaka, CEO of Exposure SARL, highlighted the DRC’s strategic position and market potential, noting that the country could become a gateway for electric vehicle development in Central Africa due to its population size and regional connectivity.

VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Vingroup, continues to expand its footprint across emerging markets, including India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Middle East, while strengthening its presence in Europe and North America. The company expects its recent strategic initiatives to drive further growth in 2026.
