Electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has announced an updated battery subscription policy for the Philippine market, a move aimed at significantly reducing upfront costs and making electric vehicle (EV) ownership more accessible to consumers. The revised policy can lower initial purchase prices by up to 20 percent, depending on the model, reinforcing the company’s customer-centric approach to advancing green mobility in the country.

Under the updated scheme, customers can choose between purchasing a vehicle with the battery included or opting for a battery subscription model, which reduces the initial investment. Monthly subscription fees start from PHP 1,600, calculated flexibly based on actual driving distance, offering consumers greater financial convenience.

VinFast described the subscription plan as a “lifetime battery warranty” solution, under which the company assumes full responsibility for battery performance throughout the subscription period. This includes maintenance, repairs, and free battery replacement when capacity falls below 70 percent. In cases of battery damage caused by accidents, VinFast will also manage replacements under the subscription policy, helping customers minimize unexpected financial risks.

For buyers who prefer the traditional ownership model with the battery included, VinFast continues to provide comprehensive aftersales support, including a battery warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometres. The dual-option approach allows consumers to select an ownership model aligned with their usage patterns and financial preferences.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Antonio Zara, Chief Executive Officer of VinFast Southeast Asia, said the policy aims to address the biggest concerns surrounding EV adoption in the Philippines. He noted that the initiative is designed to make VinFast EVs a practical and accessible choice for households, while supporting the country’s transition toward sustainable transportation.

The updated battery subscription policy complements several initiatives already introduced by VinFast in the Philippines, including free charging at V-Green-operated stations, flexible financing options with low down payments, and a residual value guarantee programme that offers returns of up to 90 percent of the original vehicle price.

Since entering the Philippine market over a year ago, VinFast has steadily expanded its presence with a diverse EV lineup, customer-friendly sales policies, and a growing aftersales service network. Through its authorized dealerships and partnerships, the company is also working to strengthen charging infrastructure and service facilities nationwide.
