The Alliance for Automotive Innovation has announced that EVgo, one of the largest public fast-charging network providers in the United States, has joined the association, becoming the first EV charging infrastructure company to be included in its expanding membership of automakers, suppliers, battery manufacturers, and autonomous vehicle and technology firms.

EVgo currently operates over 4,600 fast charging stalls across more than 1,100 locations in 47 states, serving both personal and rideshare electric vehicle users. In response to rapidly rising consumer demand, the company plans to expand its national network to more than 15,000 charging stalls by 2029, significantly strengthening public charging accessibility across the country.

The Alliance said EVgo’s inclusion brings a vital infrastructure perspective to its policy and advocacy efforts, supporting the broader EV ecosystem and accelerating nationwide electrification.

“Automakers are deploying cutting-edge technologies and innovative electrified powertrains, making this a pivotal moment for the industry,” said John Bozzella, President and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation. “Expanded public charging infrastructure goes hand-in-hand with EV adoption. EVgo’s participation will help drive policies that benefit the full EV charging and supply chain ecosystem.”

Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo, said the partnership comes at a critical juncture as EV adoption accelerates across the United States. “With nearly seven million drivers already choosing electric vehicles, expanding charging access is essential. We look forward to collaborating with automakers, technology leaders, and policymakers to advance infrastructure deployment that meets the evolving needs of American drivers.”

EVgo has established long-standing partnerships with leading automakers to accelerate the rollout of fast-charging infrastructure. More than 60% of EVgo’s network consists of high-power 350 kW chargers, enabling drivers to add hundreds of miles of range within minutes.

The company also operates an Innovation Lab, where nearly 90 EV models have been tested for interoperability, supporting the development of next-generation charging technologies. Today, U.S. consumers can choose from over 100 electric vehicle models across both new and secondary markets, further driving the need for reliable and accessible public charging networks.
