Mahindra & Mahindra announced a blockbuster response to bookings for its latest SUV models — the electric XEV 9S and the ICE-powered XUV 7XO — recording 93,689 consolidated bookings within hours of opening.
The company said bookings recorded till 2:00 pm on January 14, 2026, translated into a total booking value of over ₹20,500 crore, calculated at ex-showroom prices, marking one of the strongest single-day booking performances in India’s SUV segment.
The overwhelming response further strengthens Mahindra’s position as a key driver of India’s fast-growing SUV market, particularly as it expands aggressively into electric mobility alongside traditional petrol and diesel offerings.
Mahindra stated that the two new models cater to diverse customer needs, with the XEV 9S leading its electric SUV push, while the XUV 7XO targets buyers seeking performance and versatility in internal combustion engine options.
“With the XEV 9S and XUV 7XO, Mahindra is reinforcing its leadership by offering compelling choices across electric, diesel and petrol powertrains, aligned with evolving customer preferences in the authentic SUV segment,” the company said.
Delivery schedule announced
Mahindra also outlined a phased delivery plan across dealerships nationwide:
- XEV 9S (Electric SUV): Deliveries to begin from the week starting January 26, 2026
- XUV 7XO: Deliveries have commenced from today
Industry analysts view the strong demand for the XEV 9S as a clear signal of rising consumer confidence in electric SUVs, driven by improved driving range, charging infrastructure, and lower running costs.
With this launch, Mahindra is expected to further intensify competition in India’s electric SUV space, currently witnessing rapid growth as automakers accelerate their transition toward sustainable mobility.
