Tata Motors Launches All-New Punch with Turbo Power and Segment-First iCNG AMT, Prices Start at ₹5.59 Lakh

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (TMPV), India’s leading manufacturer of cars and SUVs, has unveiled the all-new Tata Punch, introducing a faster, smarter and bolder version of its best-selling subcompact SUV. The new model is priced at an introductory ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

First launched in October 2021, the Punch pioneered the subcompact SUV segment and has since gained the trust of nearly 700,000 customers. With this latest update, Tata Motors aims to redefine benchmarks in performance, comfort, technology and safety under its new design philosophy called “Command Max.”

The new Tata Punch offers two advanced powertrain options:

  • A 1.2-litre turbocharged iTurbo Revotron petrol engine, delivering a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio for enhanced performance.
  • A segment-first twin-cylinder iCNG technology paired with an AMT gearbox, offering improved efficiency and convenience.

Commenting on the launch, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said the Punch reflects India’s evolving aspirations and continues to democratize the SUV experience.

“With the new Punch, we’ve redefined what an SUV in this segment can be – shaped by customer insights and engineered with new-age technology at its core. It’s faster, smarter and safer, complemented by a bold, muscular stance with the confidence to truly Command Max,” he said.

The latest Punch comes loaded with several segment-first and best-in-class features including:

  • 65W front Type-C fast charger
  • 26.03 cm high-resolution HD infotainment system
  • 360-degree HD surround view camera
  • Rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming IRVM
  • Smart digital steering wheel
  • Clima Touch automatic temperature control
  • Air purifier
  • PowerSight LED headlamps
  • iTPMS as standard
  • Premium 4-speaker and 4-tweeter audio system
  • 90-degree wide door opening and follow-me-home lamps

Design and comfort

On the outside, the new Punch sports a bold front grille, bull-guard bumper, connected LED tail lamps and muscular proportions. Inside, it features a redesigned dashboard, ambient lighting, DuoTone signature theme, executive lounge seats with extended thigh support, and a flat rear floor for enhanced legroom.

Safety focus

Built on Tata’s Alfa-Arc platform and reinforced with ultra-high-strength steel, the new Punch offers six airbags as standard, ESP, hill-hold and hill-descent control, and more than 95 active and passive safety features. The SUV carries a 5-star B-NCAP safety rating, reinforcing Tata Motors’ focus on occupant protection.

Sales legacy

The Tata Punch has achieved several milestones, including:

  • Becoming India’s highest-selling car in CY 2024
  • Best-selling SUV in FY 2025
  • Consistent presence among the top 10 selling cars since 2022
  • First front-wheel-drive SUV to reach Sandakphu

With multiple variants across petrol, CNG and turbo petrol options, Tata Motors expects the all-new Punch to further strengthen its dominance in the compact SUV market while appealing to both urban and first-time SUV buyers.
