Ford’s iconic F-Series has achieved a historic milestone, securing its position as America’s best-selling truck for the 49th consecutive year and the country’s best-selling vehicle for the 44th year, with sales surpassing 800,000 units in 2025. The achievement reinforces the F-Series’ long-standing leadership in the highly competitive U.S. truck market.
Ford said the milestone reflects a sustained focus on listening to customers and delivering purposeful innovation rather than relying on past success. Since its launch in 1977, the F-Series has sold over 34 million trucks, evolving continuously to meet changing customer needs across work, lifestyle and performance segments.
The company highlighted that recent product innovations have been shaped by direct customer feedback. The newly introduced F-150 Lobo, for instance, caters to a growing subculture of owners seeking street performance, featuring a lowered suspension and a 5.0-litre V8 engine. Similarly, Ford’s electrification journey with the F-150 Lightning has been refined based on real-world user insights, particularly from customers who tow heavy loads over long distances.
Building on this feedback, Ford is developing the next-generation F-150 Lightning Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV), which is expected to deliver the instant torque of an electric powertrain while offering a generator-backed estimated range of over 700 miles, addressing range anxiety and usability concerns.
Ford also underscored that many of the F-Series’ signature features were created to solve practical challenges faced by customers. Pro Power Onboard enables trucks to supply electricity at worksites and emergency locations, while the Pro Access Tailgate improves accessibility when towing. Smart Towing technology aims to reduce stress and enhance confidence during trailering activities.
As part of its ongoing product evolution, the 2025 Super Duty now comes standard with more powerful V8 engines and improved integration for commercial upfitting. Meanwhile, the F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid has emerged as the best-selling hybrid truck in the U.S., reflecting growing acceptance of electrified powertrains in the pickup segment.
Ford emphasised that the latest milestone is not a finish line but a marker in an ongoing journey. The company said it remains committed to continuous reinvention, customer-driven innovation and treating every year as an opportunity to earn leadership anew as it approaches half a century of F-Series dominance.
