Ford confirmed a significant collaboration with Renault Group that will accelerate the rollout of future EVs:

  • Two Ford-branded electric passenger vehicles will be jointly developed on Renault’s Ampere platform and will debut in 2028. Ford will lead on design and driving dynamics to ensure distinct brand identity.
  • A Letter of Intent has been signed to explore co-developing and manufacturing light commercial vehicles, leveraging shared platforms for industrial scale.

Executives said the partnership combines the manufacturing strength and supply-chain reach of two major automakers — essential for competing in an increasingly competitive EV market.

Ford Pro Continues to Anchor European Growth

Ford Pro remains the company’s strongest business in Europe. Its connected ecosystem is delivering measurable productivity gains for commercial customers. In 2024 alone, Ford Liive Uptime added an estimated 820,000 extra days of vehicle availability for European businesses by converting vehicle data into actionable insights.

Optimizing Industrial Operations

Ford highlighted ongoing collaborations with Koç Holding and Volkswagen, including EV production at its Cologne Electric Vehicle Centre and propulsion unit manufacturing at Halewood in the UK.
Its Valencia plant will continue to play a central role in supporting Ford’s future multi-energy passenger vehicles.

Call for EU Policy Realignment

Ford warned that Europe’s current EV adoption rate—16.1%—is well below the 25% required by 2025 to meet stringent EU CO₂ targets. The company urged policymakers to update regulations to reflect market realities.

Ford proposed three policy actions:

  • Align CO₂ targets with realistic market adoption and provide a stable 10-year planning horizon.
  • Strengthen purchase incentives and expand charging networks beyond major cities.
  • Ease pressure on small businesses by revisiting commercial vehicle CO₂ mandates, noting only 8% of new vans are electric today.

“We must make electrification attractive and accessible, not punitive,” said Jim Baumbick, President, Ford Europe.

A New Chapter for Ford in Europe

With a renewed product strategy, expanded partnerships, and a push for pragmatic policy support, Ford aims to build a sustainably profitable, agile European business—anchored in electrified mobility and advanced commercial solutions.
