The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, celebrated its 53rd Foundation Day with a major brand revamp and the launch of two breakthrough mobility products—a 3-Wheeler Electric Scooter and a Clip-On Motorised Wheelchair Device.
The event witnessed the presence of Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar as Chief Guest, joined by Minister of State Shri B. L. Verma, Additional Secretary (DEPwD) Smt. Manmeet Kaur Nanda, and ALIMCO CMD Shri Praveen Kumar.
Tech-Driven Mobility for Inclusion
The new 3-Wheeler EV Scooter is designed to offer a safe, rugged, and eco-friendly mobility option suitable for diverse Indian terrains. The Clip-On Motorised Device, meanwhile, allows a manual wheelchair to be converted into a motorised vehicle within seconds—significantly improving affordability and independence for users.
Dr. Virendra Kumar highlighted ALIMCO’s evolution from a manufacturing unit into a national institution representing innovation with empathy. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, over 32 lakh Divyang beneficiaries have been supported through government initiatives, with ALIMCO playing a pivotal role in delivering high-quality assistive devices across the nation.
Innovation Rooted in Empowerment
Minister of State Shri B. L. Verma described the milestone as a celebration of compassion and progress, emphasising that the new devices are not merely engineering outputs but powerful tools enabling dignity and independence.
In an emotional address, Additional Secretary Smt. Manmeet Kaur Nanda said ALIMCO must be viewed as a living institution advancing India’s goals of inclusion, self-reliance, and social justice. She recalled inspirational stories featured in a film screened at the event, including that of acclaimed artist Sarita Trivedi, a triple amputee, and a courageous BSF officer who overcame disability to achieve international success in para-badminton. She quoted him saying, “Limbs are optional, but courage is compulsory.”
Smt. Nanda also underlined ALIMCO’s vision for the future—collaborating with 80+ start-ups, expanding into AI-assisted technologies, and developing next-generation assistive devices to meet evolving needs nationwide.
A New Identity for a New Era
Unveiling the new corporate identity, CMD Shri Praveen Kumar said the redesigned purple logo reflects dignity, inclusion, and engineering excellence. He highlighted ALIMCO’s expanding focus on EV mobility, advanced prosthetics, and modern assistive technologies to enhance outcomes and delivery speed.
The event concluded with a showcase of ALIMCO’s modernization initiatives and a cultural performance by internationally acclaimed autistic artist Master Devansh, symbolising the spirit of Sashakt Bharat.
