The spirit of adventure met sustainable innovation as the all-electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4 embarked on an extraordinary road trip from Munich to Iceland, covering over 2,300 kilometers by road and a two-day ferry journey across the North Sea. The expedition proved that MINI’s largest model is not only eco-friendly but also built for rugged exploration beyond urban limits.

Equipped with two electric motors delivering 230 kW (313 hp) and 494 Nm of torque, the MINI Countryman SE ALL4 combines dynamic performance with all-wheel drive capability, offering a range of up to 432 km (WLTP). The vehicle’s maximum charging capacity of 130 kW enables fast recharging — less than 30 minutes for 10 to 80 percent — making long-distance travel seamless and efficient.

To tackle Iceland’s unpredictable terrain, the Countryman SE ALL4 was fitted with off-road tires, a roof rack with a spare wheel, sand plates, and recovery gear. Despite its adventurous setup, the model retained impressive range stability while crossing mountains, lava fields, and icy riverbeds.

The journey, which began in Bavaria, led the electric SUV through Hamburg and Denmark, culminating in a ferry voyage to Iceland’s Sedisfjödur port. Upon arrival, the vehicle faced extreme weather — snow, freezing temperatures, and fierce coastal winds — yet continued confidently through the scenic Westfjords region.

“The MINI Countryman SE ALL4 demonstrates how electric mobility can go far beyond city limits,” said Julian Kisch, Product Communications Spokesperson at BMW Group. “It’s a car that embraces nature, challenges the elements, and embodies the MINI spirit of freedom and fun.”

The Countryman’s redesigned cabin offered enhanced space, semi-automated driving features, and a minimalist digital cockpit, ensuring driver comfort even in the most demanding conditions. As the route progressed along Iceland’s dramatic coastline, the Countryman’s ‘Blazing Blue’ finish and bronze accents stood out amid dust and mud — a visual statement of endurance and style.

Ultimately, where rugged tracks gave way to washed-out paths near the coastline, the MINI’s adventure reached its natural limit — but not before proving that electric driving can truly go the distance.
