Hyundai Motor Company reaffirmed its global hydrogen leadership with the debut of the all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion into Japan’s eco-conscious automotive market.

The all-new NEXO, alongside the futuristic INSTEROID concept car, headlined Hyundai’s largest-ever showcase in Japan. The event also featured the IONIQ 5, INSTER Cross, and Elec City Town bus, representing the company’s diverse and innovative electrification portfolio.

Pioneering Hydrogen Innovation

Hyundai highlighted its next-generation hydrogen technology through the ‘Hydrogen Journey Zone’, an interactive exhibit dedicated to its HTWO hydrogen brand and advanced fuel cell systems. The zone presented visitors with Hyundai’s end-to-end hydrogen ecosystem — from production and storage to mobility applications — reflecting its vision for a clean, zero-emission future.

The all-new NEXO, described as the “ultimate expression” of Hyundai’s hydrogen technology, delivers:

  • Over 826 km of range (WLTP) with a full five-minute refuel
  • Zero tailpipe emissions and fine dust removal during operation
  • Advanced safety systems, including highway driving assist and remote smart parking assist
  • Premium comfort, with eco-friendly interiors and a Bang & Olufsen audio system

  • EV Imagination Zone: Introduced the INSTEROID concept, a gaming-inspired design that merges car culture with digital creativity.
  • Working Mobility Zone: Displayed production-ready electric vehicles for urban and commercial use, such as the INSTER EV and Elec City Town bus.
