LG Electronics has announced its entry into SDVerse, the world’s first B2B marketplace dedicated exclusively to automotive software, in a move aimed at accelerating innovation in software-defined vehicles (SDVs) — a critical enabler of next-generation electric and connected mobility.
Founded in 2024 by General Motors, Magna, and Wipro, SDVerse serves as a global “matchmaking” platform where software providers and automotive manufacturers collaborate to develop and integrate advanced digital systems for vehicles. The platform replaces traditional, closed software development models with an open, transparent, and collaborative ecosystem, fostering efficiency and innovation across the mobility industry.
With this partnership, LG brings its AlphaWare suite — a comprehensive collection of software tools tailored for SDVs — to the SDVerse marketplace. The suite spans five core areas:
- PlayWare for immersive in-car entertainment,
- MetaWare for AR/MR-based navigation,
- VisionWare for driver and passenger monitoring,
- BaseWare for operating system integration, and
- OpsWare for secure lifecycle management.
Together, these technologies aim to simplify software integration for automakers, enhance vehicle intelligence, and improve user experience — particularly in electric and connected vehicles where software controls everything from power management to infotainment and autonomous functions.
“Automotive companies today face the challenge of unifying vehicle operating systems and evolving their business models to stay competitive in the SDV era,” said Eun Seok-hyun, President of LG’s Vehicle Solution Company. “By joining SDVerse, we can provide proven solutions that simplify integration and accelerate innovation.”
Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse, welcomed LG’s inclusion, stating, “LG’s AlphaWare suite strengthens our platform and enables OEMs and suppliers to access technologies that create exceptional user experiences and speed up the arrival of software-defined mobility worldwide.”
As the electric vehicle (EV) landscape increasingly relies on software-defined architectures for energy optimization, battery management, and digital cockpit experiences, LG’s participation in SDVerse underscores its growing role as a Smart Life and Smart Mobility solutions leader. The move signals the company’s strategic expansion from home electronics to intelligent, software-powered EV ecosystems, helping automakers worldwide transition toward safer, smarter, and more connected electric mobility.
