Toshiba Corporation has unveiled its new SCiB™ 24V battery pack (P25H20-3), a next-generation lithium-ion solution designed for automotive, marine, and heavy equipment applications. The innovative pack serves as a seamless replacement for conventional lead-acid batteries, offering superior performance, longer life, and reduced environmental impact.

The newly introduced SCiB™ 24V battery pack has already been adopted by Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. for its “e-Float Terrace,” an electric sightseeing boat set to launch cruise experiences this October in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai district. The vessel is powered by Yamaha’s proprietary HARMO electric propulsion system and features twenty-four SCiB™ 24V battery packs configured to deliver a total of 11.52 kWh of energy.

Toshiba’s SCiB™ battery pack, equipped with 20Ah-HP cells, conforms to the D23 size under the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS D 5301), making it an easy drop-in replacement for 24V lead-acid batteries. It can be deployed as a single unit or combined in series and parallel—up to 48V and 5.76 kWh—to meet a wide range of power needs across marine vessels, buses, trucks, and heavy construction machinery.

“With exceptional vibration resistance, low-temperature performance, and waterproofing certified to IPX9K and IPX7 standards, the SCiB™ 24V battery pack ensures outstanding reliability in demanding environments,” said Toshihiko Takaoka, Vice President of Toshiba’s Battery Division. “Its long-life design helps reduce maintenance requirements, making it ideal for electric boats and other commercial uses.”

The collaboration with Yamaha aligns with the company’s sustainability goals to electrify next-generation mobility and decarbonize marine transportation, promoting eco-friendly urban tourism in Japan.

Toshiba’s SCiB™ technology continues to gain attention for its high safety, rapid charging capability, and wide state-of-charge range. The company aims to expand the SCiB™ product lineup and accelerate adoption across mobility, industrial, and energy storage sectors—driving the transition toward cleaner and more efficient energy solutions worldwide.
