In a major milestone for India’s automotive exports, Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced that its rugged Jimny 5-door SUV has surpassed 1 lakh units in cumulative exports. Manufactured exclusively in India, the vehicle has found success in over 100 international markets, including Japan, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, and Chile.
The export journey of the Jimny 5-door began in 2023, shortly after its Indian debut. The SUV’s popularity surged globally, particularly in Japan, where it was launched in January 2025 as the “Jimny Nomade.” The model witnessed an extraordinary response, recording 50,000 orders within days of its introduction — a testament to its robust performance and enduring global appeal.
Built on a ladder-frame chassis and equipped with Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) system, the Jimny 5-door blends off-road prowess with reliability and durability. Powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, it maintains the classic simplicity and toughness that have defined the Jimny lineage for over five decades.

Maruti Suzuki’s overall export performance has also seen record growth. In H1 FY2025-26, the company exported over 2 lakh vehicles, marking a 40% year-on-year increase and achieving its highest-ever half-yearly export volume. With a commanding 46% share of India’s passenger vehicle exports, Maruti Suzuki continues to lead the country’s global mobility efforts.
This remarkable feat not only strengthens Maruti Suzuki’s global footprint but also showcases India’s evolving capability in producing world-class, reliable, and performance-driven vehicles for international markets.
