In a move sure to excite EV enthusiasts, General Motors (GM) has announced the return of its beloved affordable electric vehicle — the Chevrolet Bolt. The 2027 Chevy Bolt LT, priced at a starting MSRP of $29,990 (including destination freight charge), is set to deliver the most range of any EV under $30,000, with a GM-estimated 255 miles on a full charge.

While the new Bolt retains the familiar compact hatchback silhouette, GM has completely reimagined the model beneath the surface, introducing cutting-edge charging capability, a refreshed interior, and new driver-assistance features.

One of the biggest updates is the integration of a native NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, marking the first time a Chevrolet model adopts this fast-growing charging connector. The 2027 Bolt supports 150+ kW DC fast charging, more than 2.5 times faster than the outgoing version, enabling drivers to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.

Inside, drivers will find an all-new cabin focused on comfort and functionality, enhanced with modern materials and a refined design. The Super Cruise™ driver assistance system — available on select trims — offers more hands-free miles than ever before, further aligning the Bolt with GM’s vision for semi-autonomous mobility.

In a recent GM News video, senior editor Bob Sorokanich joined Chevrolet’s Shad Balch to test the revamped Bolt on the roads of Southern California, exploring its driving comfort, cargo flexibility, and quiet cabin performance.

The 2027 Bolt is slated for a limited production run, with deliveries expected to begin early next year. Despite its exclusivity, Chevrolet promises the model will continue to embody the Bolt legacy — making electric mobility accessible, practical, and exciting.

With its affordable pricing, rapid charging, and refined design, the 2027 Bolt reinforces GM’s broader commitment to expanding its EV portfolio and accelerating the transition toward a fully electric future.
