In a major push towards sustainable mobility, Thunderplus, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider, has announced a strategic collaboration with Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, to expand the nation’s EV charging infrastructure for electric small commercial vehicles (SCVs).
As part of the partnership, both companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to install 5,000 new public charging stations across key states, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar, and Maharashtra. These facilities will be strategically located near major logistics hubs to support fleet operators, enhance operational efficiency, and improve the earning potential of e-commercial vehicle owners.
The initiative complements Tata Motors’ ongoing commitment to electrifying its commercial vehicle portfolio, with a focus on innovative, zero-emission transport solutions that cater to the growing needs of urban logistics and last-mile delivery.
Commenting on the collaboration, Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunderplus, said, We are proud to collaborate with Tata Motors in driving the adoption of electric small commercial vehicles across India. This partnership marks a pivotal step in building a robust and accessible charging ecosystem that empowers businesses to transition to cleaner mobility solutions. Our goal is to make EV charging seamless, reliable, and scalable for commercial fleets.
The upcoming charging stations will feature fast-charging capabilities and integrated digital solutions to ensure ease of access, secure payments, and efficient energy management for users.
This large-scale rollout aligns with India’s national mission to reduce carbon emissions and promote electric mobility, particularly within the commercial transport sector, which is rapidly embracing the shift towards sustainable operations.
