Volvo Cars has opened orders for the 2026 EX90, now equipped with a powerful 800-volt electric architecture and major hardware and software upgrades. The enhanced system allows the premium electric SUV to add up to 250 km of range in just 10 minutes at 350 kW charging stations, doubling charging efficiency compared to the previous 400V platform.

The update also introduces expanded safety and driver support features, powered by a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer capable of 500 TOPS (trillion operations per second). New functionalities include connected safety alerts for hazards, automatic e-call with Emergency Stop Assist (ESA), and improved emergency steering in darkness. ESA can bring the car to a safe halt if the driver becomes unresponsive, then automatically connect occupants with an emergency call centre.

In addition, the 2026 EX90 gains a Park Pilot assist feature for parallel parking and an electrochromic panoramic roof, first seen on the ES90, allowing drivers to adjust glass transparency for glare reduction or privacy.

Existing 2025 EX90 owners will also benefit: Volvo confirmed a free one-time upgrade of the core computer via a scheduled workshop visit.

“The additional computing power enables us to harness AI, data, and software to further enhance safety, performance, and charging efficiency,” said Anders Bell, Chief Technology & Engineering Officer at Volvo Cars.

With these upgrades, Volvo positions the EX90 as its most advanced electric SUV yet, reflecting the brand’s ambition to become fully electric and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
