In a major push towards sustainable transportation, Relux Electric Private Limited, India’s leading EV charging infrastructure provider, has partnered with the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) to establish 500 new EV charging stations across the state. The move is expected to significantly accelerate Tamil Nadu’s journey towards becoming an electric mobility hub.
As part of the collaboration, Relux Electric and TNGECL will carry out a feasibility study to identify suitable government-owned lands for setting up the charging stations. The initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu’s green energy vision of expanding EV infrastructure, cutting carbon emissions, and promoting cleaner mobility solutions.
“This collaboration between the state and Relux comes at the right time to accelerate EV adoption in Tamil Nadu. It will be a significant step towards transforming Tamil Nadu into an electric mobility hub and will open up opportunities to further strengthen charging infrastructure at customer-friendly locations,” said Mr. Karthikeyan S., Managing Director of Relux Electric Private Limited.
TNGECL, which was established in 2024 to spearhead the state’s green initiatives, is already working with municipal bodies, bus depots, and public spaces to expand EV infrastructure. Plans are also underway to set up dedicated EV hubs equipped with user-friendly facilities, making EV charging more convenient and accessible.
Currently, Tamil Nadu has about 1,300 EV charging stations, with TNGECL developing a digital map to help users easily locate nearby charging points. The addition of 500 new stations is expected to further strengthen the state’s EV ecosystem and support its vision of clean, sustainable transportation.
