General Motors (GM) is set to highlight its progress on electric vehicles and battery innovation at Climate Week NYC 2025, the world’s largest annual climate event. GM will serve as the title sponsor of the Nest Climate Campus at the Javits Center, the centerpiece of this year’s conference.
At its exhibition, GM will display the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Silverado EV, and Cadillac OPTIQ, while offering test drives of the Cadillac ESCALADE IQ, LYRIQ, OPTIQ, and Equinox EV. Company executives will also feature in keynote sessions addressing EV adoption and advanced battery technology.
Kurt Kelty, GM’s vice president of battery, propulsion, and sustainability, will speak on “How GM is driving American battery technology forward.” His talk will spotlight GM’s latest breakthroughs, including its plans to commercialize lithium manganese rich (LMR) batteries.
The following day, Chief Sustainability Officer Cassandra Garber will take the stage at 10:10 a.m. (ET) for a session titled “The Road Ahead: Breaking Barriers to EV Adoption.” She will discuss solutions to charging accessibility and range limitations in conversation with Anna Robertson, cofounder of The Cool Down.
GM recently made headlines by breaking the world record for EV range, achieving 1,059.2 miles on a single charge with a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck, far surpassing its EPA-estimated range of 493 miles. The company also reported record EV sales in August, cementing its position as the second-largest EV seller in the U.S. GM currently offers 14 EV models—the widest portfolio in the industry—and is the largest EV battery cell manufacturer in the U.S. through joint venture plants in Ohio and Tennessee.
“General Motors remains committed to a zero-emissions future, with profitable EV production as our north star,” Garber said. “Advancing our EV portfolio is good business and good for society, and we’re proud to share our progress at this event.”
