Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has delivered its first batch of six Skyline Pro-E 12m electric tarmac buses to IndiGo at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
This prestigious order marks Eicher’s entry into the aviation ground support sector, underlining its commitment to sustainable public mobility. The zero-emission tarmac buses will be used to transport IndiGo passengers between terminals and aircraft stands, supporting the airline’s efforts to lower the environmental footprint of its ground operations.
Equipped with advanced lithium-iron phosphate batteries and a CCS2 fast charging system, the Skyline Pro-E is designed for continuous airport operations. It features a 17+D seating layout with capacity for 52 standees, along with full air suspension, power-assisted steering, and disc brakes for smooth, stable performance.
Mr. Suresh Chettiar, Executive Vice President, Bus Division, VECV, said: We are honored to partner with IndiGo in their journey towards greener and sustainable ground operations at Kempegowda Airport. With these tarmac coaches, Eicher stands committed to sustainably transporting millions of passengers at one of India’s busiest aviation hubs.
The partnership with IndiGo highlights Eicher’s growing EV capabilities, backed by in-house powertrain development and a strong service ecosystem. It also reinforces VECV’s broader strategy of enabling critical infrastructure sectors to adopt clean mobility solutions at scale.
