The Volkswagen Group is accelerating its electric mobility strategy with the introduction of its “Electric Urban Car Family”, a lineup of four small all-electric cars designed for Europe. Scheduled for launch in 2026, the new models will start at around €25,000 and aim to make e-mobility more accessible to a wider audience.
The vehicle family will include two models from the Volkswagen brand (the hatchback ID. Polo and SUV ID. CROSS Concept, along with the sporty ID. Polo GTI), the CUPRA Raval, and the Škoda Epiq. All will be based on the advanced MEB+ platform, featuring Volkswagen’s unified cell battery for the first time. The technology promises ranges of up to 450 kilometers, fast charging as standard, and premium features such as Travel Assist with lane-change function, traffic light recognition, LED matrix lighting, and smartphone-based car key access.
“This day is a milestone in our successful e-mobility strategy,” said Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen Group. “The Electric Urban Car Family stands for accessibility, progress, and our central promise: mobility for all.”
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen Brand, emphasized that despite sharing a platform, each model carries its brand’s unique character: “From Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design language to CUPRA’s unconventional sportiness and Škoda’s Modern Solid practicality, this is the future of urban electric mobility.”
Volkswagen projects that the European electric small car market will quadruple within eight years. With its new EV family, the Group is targeting a 20% market share, equivalent to several hundred thousand units annually, reinforcing its leadership as Europe’s top electric vehicle manufacturer.
