Enphase Energy, Inc., a global leader in microinverter-based solar and battery systems, has unveiled its new IQ® Bidirectional EV Charger architecture, designed to deliver vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities.

The charger connects directly to the DC port of electric vehicles (EVs), enabling homeowners to not only charge their cars but also power their homes during outages and export surplus energy back to the grid. The entire system can be managed via the Enphase® App.

Key highlights of the charger include:

  • High-powered bidirectional capability: Supports both 400 V and 800 V EVs, delivering up to 11.5 kW of bidirectional power with GaN-based grid-forming microinverters.
  • Black start resilience: Allows homeowners to restore power during outages by simply plugging in their EV.
  • AI-driven energy management: Optimizes charging and discharging using real-time electricity rates, solar forecasts, and grid conditions.
  • Global compliance: Expected to meet standards such as UL 9741, ISO 15118-20, OCPP 2.1, and IEEE 1547 for compatibility with a wide range of vehicles and utility programs.

“The IQ Bidirectional EV Charger brings the family car into the home energy system,” said Jayant Somani, senior vice president of the digital business unit at Enphase Energy. “It’s simple to install, easy to control, and designed to deliver backup power and energy sharing with the grid.”

The charger will be offered in both AC and DC variants, with the IQ model adopting the DC design for faster power transfer and smarter energy control. Enphase expects global availability in the second half of 2026.

Enphase, headquartered in Fremont, California, has shipped more than 83.1 million microinverters and deployed around 4.9 million systems in over 160 countries.
