Vietnam’s electric vehicle maker VinFast has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its made-in-India premium electric SUVs, VF 6 and VF 7. The rollout marks a significant milestone for the company as it seeks to capture a share of India’s fast-growing EV segment.
The SUVs, assembled at VinFast’s new Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu, are tailored for Indian consumers with a mix of performance, comfort, and advanced safety features. The VF 6 compact SUV offers up to 468 km ARAI-certified range, while the larger VF 7 delivers up to 532 km on a single charge. Both models come in multiple variants, equipped with fast-charging, connected-car technology, ADAS Level 2, and panoramic glass roof options.
Speaking at the launch, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said: “Today marks a historic milestone – cars made in India, by Indians, for Indians. The VF 6 and VF 7 embody premium quality and cutting-edge technology, designed with Indian families in mind.”
To ensure a smooth ownership experience, VinFast has partnered with Axis Bank, RoadGrid, myTVS, Global Assure, and BatX Energies, offering financing, charging solutions, after-sales services, and battery recycling. The company plans 35 dealer touchpoints and 26 workshops across 27 cities by the end of 2025.
With India positioned as a global EV hub, VinFast’s entry comes at a strategic time. The company, already present in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, is banking on its “local manufacturing, global expertise” strategy to establish itself as a key player in the Indian market.
