Suzuki Motor Corporation announced that its iconic compact car, the Suzuki Swift, has achieved a remarkable milestone of 10 million cumulative global sales as of July 2025. The achievement comes 20 years and 8 months after the model’s debut in Japan in November 2004.

Launched as Suzuki’s first global strategic car, the Swift has transformed the company’s design philosophy and quickly became a flagship model. Over the years, it has bagged several Car of the Year awards across Japan and international markets.

Production of the Swift spans Japan, Hungary, India, China, Pakistan, and Ghana, with sales reaching over 170 countries and regions. India has emerged as the largest market, accounting for 60% of the 10 million sales, or around 6 million units, since its launch there in 2005. Europe follows with 14%, Japan with 8%, and other regions contributing 18%.

In a statement, Suzuki President expressed gratitude: Thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen the Swift, we are proud to announce that its accumulated global sales have reached 10 million units. Moving forward, Team Suzuki will continue working together to deliver valuable products that support the daily mobility of our customers worldwide.

The Swift also marked a first in Suzuki’s history, being produced almost simultaneously in four countries during its 2004–2005 launch phase. Over four generations, the model has cemented its position as a global compact leader, with the latest fourth generation introduced in Japan in December 2023.
