Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has launched the all-new Tata LPT 812, a category-defining truck in the Intermediate, Light and Medium Commercial Vehicles (ILMCV) segment. Positioned as a game-changer for urban haulage, the LPT 812 is India’s first 4-tyre truck with a 5-tonne payload capacity, offering fleet operators greater profitability and efficiency.
Powered by the proven 4SPCR diesel engine, the truck delivers 125 hp and 360 Nm torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox and booster-assisted clutch for smoother gearshifts. It combines the ruggedness of a 6-tyre vehicle with the agility and lower maintenance of a 4-tyre model. Safety features include full S-Cam air brakes, heavy-duty radial tyres, parabolic suspension, and tilt-and-telescopic power steering.
Equipped with factory-fitted air-conditioning and multiple load body options, the LPT 812 is designed for diverse applications such as market load, courier, F&V, and industrial goods. Tata Motors is backing the vehicle with a 3-year/3 lakh km warranty, complemented by its nationwide Sampoorna Seva 2.0 and Fleet Edge digital platform for enhanced uptime and lower total cost of ownership.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, said the launch sets “a new benchmark in customer profitability in the segment,” highlighting superior fuel efficiency, ease of operations, and long-term business value.
With this launch, Tata Motors has strengthened its leadership in the ILMCV segment, which spans 4 to 19 tonnes GVW, reaffirming its focus on innovation and customer-centric mobility solutions.
