Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced today that it will serve as the official global partner for the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 (WCH Tokyo 25), providing approximately 120 official vehicles to ensure smooth and sustainable event operations. The tournament, scheduled from September 13 to 21 at the Japan National Stadium, will bring together more than 2,000 athletes from nearly 200 countries.
Under the event’s theme — “Maximizing the excitement and inspiration from the athletes’ great performance, through the realization of an environmentally-responsible and safe event” — Honda will supply a diverse fleet featuring fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
Among the highlights, the CR-V e:FCEV will serve as the Chief Judge’s vehicle for the men’s and women’s marathon, while the N-VAN e: will function as the official timing vehicle equipped with Seiko timing systems. Honda will also deploy its Power Exporter e: 6000/9000 devices to provide electricity for marathon split-time measurement mats.
The all-new Prelude and N-ONE e: will act as course check vehicles, both set to launch commercially in fall 2025. For live race coverage, CUV e: electric commuter bikes powered by Honda’s swappable Mobile Power Pack will serve as camera vehicles.
Supporting logistics, Honda will provide hybrid-electric models including the Step WGN e:HEV, Odyssey e:HEV, and ZR-V e:HEV. Personal mobility devices such as the UNI-ONE and Striemo will be used to assist staff during operations.
In a first for the World Athletics Championships, Honda will also exhibit the Honda 0 SUV Prototype inside the stadium. A 1/4 scale radio-controlled version of this SUV will play a unique role in retrieving javelins, hammers, and discuses during throwing events — combining innovation with efficiency.
Beyond the stadium, spectators can experience Honda’s mobility lineup at an outdoor exhibit featuring the CUV e:, UNI-ONE, and the police motorcycle version of the Honda NT1100, complete with immersive photo opportunities.
With this initiative, Honda reinforces its vision of supporting athletes worldwide: “To increase the number of people who take on challenges through sports activities and make the lives of all people more enjoyable.”
