Bengaluru-based energy tech startup Exponent Energy has unveiled its next-generation charging station, code-named P4, powered by the company’s proprietary 15-minute rapid charging technology. With this launch, Exponent aims to set a new global benchmark for EV infrastructure, redefining both design and engineering in India and beyond.
The P4 charger brings three major innovations to the EV ecosystem:
- Space-Saving Design: Unlike conventional bulky chargers, the P4 has been reimagined as a sleek wall, only 400 mm wide, running along the length of the parked vehicle. This design is particularly suited to space-constrained urban environments.
- Effortless Cable Handling: Exponent’s custom-built 3-axis cable management system allows the charging cable to “float,” reducing its perceived weight to near zero and retracting automatically after use.
- Smart Thermal Management: Building on its world-first offboard battery cooling introduced in 2023, the P4 adds offboard battery heating, ensuring EV batteries can pre-heat or cool as required. This enables faster charging and longer battery life, even in extreme climates.
Commenting on the launch, Arun Vinayak, Co-founder & CEO of Exponent Energy, said:
“At Exponent, everything starts with design thinking. It’s not about aesthetics but rethinking everything from first principles to deliver better engineering and economics. We launched our earlier charger as an MVP to learn from the field, and the P4 is the culmination of those learnings. While we’re known today for charge time and battery life, our larger vision is to deliver a 360-degree simplified energy experience.”
The P4 delivers up to 40 kW of power and is already being deployed in cities across India. OEM partners, including Montra Electric (Murugappa Group) and Omega Seiki Mobility, are set to adopt the system, accelerating EV adoption across passenger and commercial segments.
Exponent Energy, founded in 2020, has rapidly scaled its ecosystem with 2,000+ EVs powered, 8 lakh+ rapid charging sessions enabled, and more than 50 million kilometers covered. The company has expanded operations to five additional cities — Delhi NCR, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. In a milestone move last year, it introduced 1 MW rapid charging technology for buses, making India only the third country to achieve such capability.
Adding to its growing global recognition, the World Economic Forum (WEF) has named Exponent Energy to its 2025 Technology Pioneers list, which spotlights 100 breakthrough companies worldwide.
With its intuitive design, robust engineering, and seamless app-powered user experience, the P4 charger is positioned as a transformative step toward making EV charging as simple and reliable as refueling.
