Coca-Cola India and its bottling partners are reshaping the country’s logistics landscape by expanding one of the largest truck fleets in the nation, now featuring more than 5,000 electric vehicles (EVs). The move not only strengthens the company’s vast distribution network but also accelerates India’s transition toward sustainable logistics while fueling job creation across regions.
Nationwide EV Fleet Expansion
Coca-Cola’s logistics backbone covers hundreds of kilometers daily, ensuring beverages reach both urban centers and rural markets. The latest expansion adds significant capacity to this supply chain, with Superior Drinks Pvt. Ltd. introducing nearly 200 new trucks and EVs this year. SLMG Beverages has deployed over 3,000 EVs in the past three years to boost last-mile delivery, while Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has rolled out approximately 500 EVs across 10 states to strengthen regional distribution.
This scale-up cements Coca-Cola’s role as a major contributor to India’s green logistics shift, with its partners expected to further grow EV adoption in the years ahead.
Technology Meets Impact
Beyond enhancing distribution efficiency, bottling partners are investing in tech-enabled supply chain solutions to serve retailers faster and at lower costs. EV adoption significantly reduces emissions across operations, supporting both India’s clean mobility goals and Coca-Cola’s global sustainability agenda.
Vinay Nair, Chief Commercial Officer at HCCB, emphasized, “Fleet augmentation not only strengthens our last-mile deliveries but also reinforces our commitment to agile, tech-enabled supply chain solutions that serve our retailers faster and better, while contributing to the local economies.”
Driver Welfare and Road Safety
The expansion is coupled with a strong focus on workforce welfare. Thousands of truck drivers play a crucial role in ensuring reliable delivery, and Coca-Cola’s programs now include annual road safety trainings tailored to Indian conditions, regular health and vision check-ups, and wellness workshops on stress management. Routine vehicle assessments further enhance operational safety.
Sundeep Bajoria, Vice President, Coca-Cola India, noted, “Our trucking ecosystem is a living engine of economic opportunity and impact-led progress. As we scale our capabilities, we remain equally focused on enabling the people who power this network with safety, skill-building, and support.”
Industry Perspectives
Ashish Sethi, CEO of Superior Drinks Pvt. Ltd., said the fleet boost is about “building a delivery powerhouse that delivers unmatched speed, scale, and reliability.”
Rahul Kumar, Deputy CEO of SLMG Beverages, highlighted EV adoption as a “deliberate move to improve delivery speed and capacity, especially in rural markets, while enhancing cost-to-serve.”
A Green and Inclusive Future
With every kilometer covered by Coca-Cola’s EV fleet, the company is not only delivering refreshment but also fostering sustainable growth, creating livelihoods, and driving India’s logistics industry toward a cleaner, more inclusive future.
