Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has opened its first California dealership in San Diego, marking a major step in its U.S. retail expansion strategy. Operated by Sunroad Automotive Group, the dealership officially began operations this summer and celebrated its grand opening on August 19 with executives, media, and local consumers in attendance.
Visitors had the chance to test drive VinFast’s two flagship U.S. electric SUVs — the VF 8, a mid-size five-seater, and the VF 9, a full-size seven-seater — both offered with competitive pricing and leasing programs starting at $279 and $449 per month, respectively.
California, with its fast-growing EV adoption, is a top priority for VinFast’s U.S. network buildout. The company already counts nearly 30 dealerships across 14 states, including New York, Texas, Florida, and Illinois, and plans to accelerate partnerships with more retailers nationwide under its franchise dealership model, introduced in 2023.

All VinFast models in the U.S. are backed by a 10-year/125,000-mile vehicle warranty and a 10-year unlimited mileage battery warranty, underscoring the company’s focus on customer confidence.
Beyond the U.S., VinFast is expanding into Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and the Middle East, strengthening its presence across global EV markets. Already Vietnam’s best-selling car brand, VinFast is positioning itself as a competitive challenger in the global electric SUV segment with a lineup ranging from the compact VF 3 mini-SUV to the flagship VF 9.
