Nova Bus, a Canadian leader in electric bus manufacturing and a member of the Volvo Group, has been awarded a contract to build the first 120 LFSe+ fully electric city buses for Calgary Transit. Production will begin in 2027 at Nova Bus’s fully Canadian manufacturing facilities. Supported by federal funding, the investment will expand Calgary Transit’s fleet, diversify propulsion systems, and advance the city’s goal of decarbonizing its transit network while reducing long-term operational costs.
The LFSe+ delivers a 100% electric public transit solution designed to meet the demanding operational needs of major cities across North America. Already in service in locations including Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, and several U.S. cities such as New York, Houston, and San Francisco, the model has proven its reliability and sustainability credentials.
“We are very honored and proud of our +15-years partnership with Calgary Transit which continues with these 100% electric Nova Bus buses. These will complement the current Nova Bus fleet of CNG and Diesel buses that are providing daily transit services for the people of this great Canadian city. This is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability for the well-being of the community,” said Paul Le Houillier, President of Nova Bus.
